It’s all with the goal of seeing and helping every young patient in need. To that end, our clinicians provide agencies, schools and residential centers with expert consultations into the care and treatment of childhood and adolescent psychiatric disorders. We also believe that it is our responsibility not only to help those that come to our center to seek out care, but to help those in need within our community. Because a child’s mental health can both affect and be affected by his or her environment, we offer family therapy to include parents and siblings in the treatment process. Instead, we take a team approach to child and adolescent psychiatry, collaborating with our colleagues in pediatrics, developmental pediatrics, neurology and other specialties to provide comprehensive care. We don't do this critical work on our own. Our aim is to help kids develop confidence in themselves and learn with their families to manage the stress that can influence mental health - all in a warm, welcoming and kid- and teen-friendly environment. In particular, we offer specialized care for children and teens with autism spectrum disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and mental health concerns resulting from trauma, parental loss, illness and more. We provide expert evaluation and treatment of a wide range of emotional, cognitive and behavioral problems. The highly trained clinicians in Tufts Medical Center’s Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry understand this, and we do everything in our power to help kids and their families cope - and thrive. The Department of Psychiatry offers Accreditation Council certified Graduate Medical Education for four years of postgraduate training through the General Psychiatry Residency Program, as well as a two-year Child and Adolescent Fellowship Training Program.Īs part of MaineHealth, Maine’s premier healthcare system, we are committed to providing excellent care and working with our partners throughout the state so that our communities are the Healthiest in America.Children aren’t just small adults, especially when it comes to their mental health.
